Christmas in Ennis
Join us for a range of activities celebrating Christmas in Ennis.The festive season kicks off with the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Abbey Street on Thursday evening 27th November.
Thereafter you can partake in and enjoy a range of festive events to bring you right up to Christmas Eve.

Christmas events
Switching on of Christmas Lights
- Thursday 27th November, 5:00pm. Switching on of Lights at Abbey Street Car Park. Musical extravaganza from Circus Ponies. Special guest Mr Ikem Ugwueru of Éire Óg and Clare Football fame, will join Mayor Cllr Mary Howard on stage! Santa will arrive on time to switch on the lights at 6.45pm. Balloons, face painting, street food and lots of fun!

The Wobbly Circus
- Saturday 6th December, The Wobbly Circus comes to the streets of Ennis. Don't miss these breathtaking acrobatic entertainers to get you in the festive spirit.
Ennis Street Fashion Show
- Saturday 13th December, Ennis Street Fashion Show. See O'Connell Street transformed into a catwalk, with a dizzying display of haute couture from the famed boutique capital of Ireland! Don't miss the opportunity to spot that perfect party outfit or a unique gift for him or her!
- Special guest models, Clare Hurlers Shane O'Donnell and Tony Kelly!
- Two Fashion Shows, 12:00pm and at 2:30pm.

Family Festive Orienteering Hunt
- Sunday 14th December, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Family fun-filled Treasure Hunt around the town. Commencing at Temple Gate Plaza.
Seasonal Movie in Glór
- Friday 19th December, at 6:00pm, Glór will host a seasonal Christmas favourite.
Music for Christmas
- Sunday 21st December, Music for Christmas on O'Connell Street, 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. featuring the marvellous Ukelele group "The Ukes of Ennis", followed by some festive favourites from the always magnificent Ennis Brass Band, and finishing up with a blast of rock n' roll with Damien Gormley.

Free parking for Christmas
Free parking Thursday 27th November for Switching on Lights event, 5:00pm - 8:00pm in Council HQ New Road, Waterpark Campus, Drumbiggle and Ennis Courthouse.
Free parking in all Council car parks each afternoon from 2:00pm Monday to Saturday, commencing Thursday 27th November until Thursday 1st January 2026 (pay as normal for on-street parking).
Free parking 9:00 am - 6:00 pm in Council HQ, New Road every Saturday and Sunday from 29th November to 21st December.
Free parking 9:00 am - 6:00 pm in Waterpark Campus, Drumbiggle, every Saturday and Sunday from 2th November to 24th December.

Parking restrictions and road closures
To facilitate Switching on Lights event 26th-28th November, all roads within Abbey Street car park will close, in 2 phases.
- Phase 1: West of the main through road, adjacent to the river, between Costa Coffee and O’Brien’s Café from Wednesday 26th November 2025 at 6:00 p.m. until Friday 28th November 2025 at 8:00 am.
- Phase 2: The main through road which connects Bank Place and Abbey Street from Thursday 27th November 2025 from 3:00pm until Thursday 27th November at 11:00pm.
