Promoting the Age Friendly Programme in County Clare 2023 - 2027
As you may be aware, the Clare Age Friendly Programme is a member of the Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities, an initiative of The World Health Organisation (WHO). The principal aim of the initiative is to give older people a strong voice in decision-making on matters of concern to them. The Clare Age Friendly programme is hosted by Clare County Council and is supported by an alliance of agencies and organisations who provide key services for older people. The Clare Older People's Council (OPC) is a key structure of this Programme. The OPC represents the voice of older people in County Clare providing a way for older adults to have their voices heard.
We are currently working on the development of a new Age Friendly strategic plan that looks at the needs of all older people and what we can do to make our county more age friendly into the future. We know we need to reach as wide an audience of older people as possible. To do this we have developed a questionnaire to record what matters to older people across County Clare.
The questionnaire is enclosed and we would really appreciate all the help you can give us to complete this task. We are hoping that by completing this questionnaire, we will be able to give key service providers the evidence they need to tailor their services to meet the needs of our older population.
The questionnaire will be available from mid-May to the 15th September. The closing date for replies is Friday 15th September 2023. All forms should be returned to Helen Moloney, Rural & Community Dept., Clare Co. Council, New Road Ennis, Co. Clare.
We look forward to hearing from the members of your club/organisation.
Kind Regards,
Maurice Harvey, Chair Clare Older People’s Council
Karen Fennessy, Clare Age Friendly County Programme Manager
