Community Climate Action Programme - Phase Two
Phase Two of the Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP) is now open for applications. A total of €572,000 in funding is available to support local, community-led climate action projects across County Clare. The programme is delivered by Clare County Council, in partnership with the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE).
This programme empowers communities to take meaningful climate action at a local level, helping to build low-carbon, sustainable, and climate-resilient communities that contribute to Ireland’s national climate and energy goals.
About the Community Climate Action Programme
The Community Climate Action Programme supports community groups in delivering projects that:
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and/or
- Help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Projects should align with at least one (ideally more) of the following five key themes:
- Community Energy – Improve energy efficiency in community buildings or develop small-scale renewable energy projects.
- Travel – Promote sustainable transport and reduce car dependency.
- Food & Waste – Support community food growing and reduce food and material waste.
- Shopping & Recycling – Encourage circular economy initiatives like upcycling, repair cafés, or tool libraries.
- Local Climate & Environmental Action – Enhance biodiversity and climate resilience through actions like tree planting, pollinator-friendly spaces, or sustainable drainage systems.

Funding Available
Grants can cover up to 100% of eligible project costs, with three funding tiers:
• Small-scale projects: under €20,000
• Medium-scale projects: €20,000 – €50,000
• Large-scale projects: €50,000 – €100,000
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants must:
- Be not-for-profit community organisations based in County Clare
- Submit a completed application by 5:00 PM on December 16th
- Be registered with the Clare PPN, or affiliated with groups such as The Wheel, Tidy Towns, or have formal governance structures (e.g. Articles of Association, AGM minutes)
Note: PPN registration is not mandatory but is encouraged.
Ineligible applicants include:
• Private individuals
• Commercial businesses
• National-level organisations
