Environmental Noise Regulations, 2018 (S.I. No. 549 of 2018, as amended) Notice of Public Consultation on Draft Agglomeration of Limerick Noise Action Plan 2024-2028

Submissions are invited from the public on the draft Agglomeration of Limerick Noise Action Plan 2024-2028, prepared under S.I. No. 549 of 2018 (as amended), to address environmental noise in the Agglomeration of Limerick (as defined in the above regulations), prepared jointly by Limerick City and County Council and Clare County Council.

This is a four-year strategic plan with the main purpose to inform and consult the public about the health effects of noise exposure from road, rail and major industry sources and the measures that may be considered to address this issue in the Agglomeration of Limerick (as defined in the above regulations. The plan excludes noise from domestic activities, noise created by neighbours, noise at workplaces or noise inside a means of transport or due to military activities in military areas.

The public consultation phase will be open from 5th April to 17th May 2024 with the draft plan available for inspection at the following locations.

  • Limerick City and County Council, County Hall, Dooradoyle Limerick (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
  • Limerick City and County Council, City Hall, Merchants Quay, Limerick (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
  • Aras Mainchin Seoighe Area Office, Kilmallock, Limerick (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
  • Newcastle West Area Office, Newcastle West, Limerick (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
  • Rathkeale Area Office, Rathkeale, Limerick (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
  • Limerick County Library, Dooradoyle, Limerick (Mon-Sat, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., except Tues/Thurs closing at 8 p.m.) Limerick City Library, Barrow House, Michael Street, Limerick (Mon-Sat, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., except Tues/Thurs closing at 8 p.m.)

  • Seán Lemass Public Library, Town Centre, Shannon, Co. Clare (Mon 10a.m. - 1p.m / 2p.m. - 5.30p.m. Tues/Thurs 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Wed/Fri 10 a.m.-5.30 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
