Part XAB - Proposed Burial Ground Extension at Drumcliff Burial Ground, Co. Clare

Drumcliff Burial Ground Extension

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of Part XAB, Section 177AE of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended), that Clare County Council is applying to An Board Pleanála (“the Board”) to undertake the following development:

Location

The project is located at the Townland of Drumcliff, Ennis, Co. Clare

Nature & Extent of Development

(1) Improvement works to St Brigids Section E and (2) the development of an extension to the existing Burial Ground at Drumcliff, Ennis. Co. Clare.

The proposed development comprises:-

  • An addition of 350 double plots including provision for ash plots.
  • Access road improvements including lay-bys, turning circle and traffic calming measures.
  • Parking; Drainage & Footpaths
  • Planting and landscaping including Columbarium and Reflectance Garden
  • Associated Site Works

Offices at Which Plans and Particulars may be Inspected

  • The planning offices of Clare County Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare during normal working days during normal working days from 9am to 4pm from 22nd September 2023 to 8th November 2023.
  • The offices of An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, between the hours 9:15am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday (Excluding Public Holidays).

An Appropriate Assessment (AA) screening report was prepared. As a result, a Natura Impact Statement has been prepared as part of the application for approval in respect of the proposed development.

An Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report has also been completed in support of the application. It concluded that an EIA is not required.

An Bord Pleanála may give approval to the application for development with or without conditions or may refuse the application for development.

A copy of the Plans & Particulars of the proposed development, the Natura Impact Statement and the Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report will be available for inspection free of charge, or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, for a period of 6 weeks (excluding Bank Holidays) between 22nd September 2023 up to and including 8th November 2023 at the locations above.;

Any submissions and observations on the proposed development in relation to –

  1. the implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,
  2. the likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, and
  3. the likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European Site, if carried out,

may be made in writing to An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin, D01 V902. Any submission/observation must be received by An Bord Pleanála before and not later than 5.30pm on 8th November 2023

A person may question the validity of any such decision by An Bord Pleanála by way of an application for judicial review under Order 84 of the Rules of the Superior Courts (S.I. No. 15 of 1986) in accordance with section 50 of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 (as amended).
