Common Questions / Questions Asked
Why do we need a risk assessment?
A risk assessment is required to show that you have considered any potential risks / hazards that may arise for the
a) artist (s) creating the work
b) members of the public that may be impacted by the creation and or installation of the work
It is particularly important to consider how the work is going to be installed / created on site and whether paths / roadways need to be closed. In some cases the erection of scaffolding or use of equipment such as cherry pickers may be necessary and the expenditure for such items should be considered in your proposal.
Proposals that are not properly risk assessed will not be considered for funding.
There are many templates on line including one from the Arts Council which gives a useful outline as to how to arrive at one (it's designed for festivals but is a good example as to how to develop one) FIAC Appendix 2 V1.pdf (artscouncil.ie)
What insurance do we need?
All proposals must have evidence of adequate and comprehensive Public Liability insurance and should carry an indemnity to Clare County Council to the value of a minimum of €6.5m

What kind of compliance with Planning Law is needed? Is there a process to get approval?
Please see the section Legislative Basis for Artworks which enables works to be undertaken in conjunction with a local authority.
If your proposal is shortlisted for consideration, but the selection panel feels that the nature of the work requires further clarification (in terms if location / scale etc.) we will consult with the planning department in advance of notifying the applicant.
