NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT BY A LOCAL AUTHORITY

VANDELEUR WALLED GARDEN & GARDENERS YARD IMPROVEMENT WORKS

Location

Vandeleur Walled Garden & Gardeners Yard, Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre, Feagarroge, Kilrush, County Clare, V15E735.

Nature & Extent of Proposed Development

In accordance with Part XI, Section 179 of the Planning and Development Act (as Amended) and Part VIII, Articles 80 & 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as Amended), notice is hereby given that Clare County Council proposes to carry out the following development:

Restorations and additions to the existing Walled Garden and Gardener’s Yard. The proposed development will include:

  • The construction of a new wall and entrance gates to the existing Gardener’s Yard.
  • The installation of a prefabricated storage container in the existing Gardener’s Yard.
  • The demolition and rebuilding of the existing greenhouse in the Walled Garden.
  • All ancillary site works.

In accordance with the Habitats Directive, Appropriate Assessment Screening has been carried out on this project. The screening report accompanies the planning application.

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening determination has been made and concludes that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and an EIA is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

This development proposes works adjacent to the exterior of a protected structure, RPS No: 876 NIAH No: 20301212K27 which would materially affect the character of a protected structure. The development is also within the demesne of Kilrush House/Vandeleur Estate RPS No: 873 NIAH No: 20301212 as noted in the Clare County Development Plan 2023-2029 Volume 4.

Plans and particulars of the above development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during normal working days from 9.00am to 4.00pm for a period not less than four weeks beginning on the date of publication of this notice at the following locations:

  • The Planning Department of Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare, V95 DXP2
  • The West Clare Municipal District Office, Kilrush Office, Town Hall, Kilrush, County Clare, V15 XK70
  • The yoursay portal of Clare County Council website at: yoursay.clarecoco.ie/VWG-gardeners yard.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the proposed development would be situated, may be made in writing to the Senior Planner, Planning & Enterprise Development, Clare County Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare up to and including the 27th January 2025, and should be clearly marked Vandeleur Walled Gardens and Gardeners Yard Improvement Works”.
