THE CLARE FARMERS WEAVING STORIES TOGETHER PROJECT
The Clare Farmers ‘Weaving Stories Together’ project is a creativity for wellbeing initiative developed by Clare County Council's Healthy Clare and Age Friendly Clare programmes in partnership with Cuimhneamh an Chláir (Clare Memories), IFA Clare Farm Families Committee and the HSE's Connecting for Life teams. The project which was funded by Creative Ireland - Clare targeted 5 Mart areas across County Clare (Ennis, Kilfenora, Kilrush, Scariff and Sixmilebridge), and worked with the farmers in those areas to graphically capture Past, Present and Future farming from our farmers perspective.

THE PROJECT INVOLVED
⦁ Cuimhneamh an Chlair (Clare’s Memories) facilitated the sessions with the local farming community who discussed their experiences and views of past, present, and future farming in their area. This information was creatively captured by a graphic harvester and collated into a co-created Clare Farmer's ‘Weaving Stories Together’ booklet. This booklet was launched in Glór on Monday, 13th November 2023 by Jim Finn, the presenter of Clare FM's Farm Focus show.

THE CLARE FARMERS WEAVING STORIES TOGETHER BOOKLET
The booklet includes 5 visual stories from the 5 mart areas visited. These visual stories are there to be explored and added to as the booklet also includes a space for readers to add their own Farm Memories, experiences and hopes for the future ensuring the 'art of conversation' and 'Creativity' continues long after the project has completed. The booklet also includes farming inspired poetry by Miriam O' Donohoe and some old farmyard machinery memorabilia along with the '5 ways to wellbeing' for farmers and a list of mental health supports and services.
Over 30 people from the farming community contributed to the booklet with over 100 people attending the launch event in glór.
If you would like a FREE copy of the booklet call into any of the Clare Libraries branches or call Clare County Council's Rural and Community Development Directorate on 065 684 6276 or email agefriendlyclare@clarecoco.ie and a copy will be mailed out to you.
