The Clare Libraries Development Plan 2023 – 2027 will shape the development of Clare Libraries’ services and facilities over the next five years, and we want your input as to what that might include.

Clare County Council is in the process of preparing a Library Development Plan to cover the period 2023 -2027. The previous plan covered the period 2016-2021 and achieved success in a number of areas: a new library building in Ennis, the refurbishment of Kilrush library, the installation of a sensory garden in Shannon and Ennistymon libraries, Age Friendly accreditation, autism friendly services and success in childrens services.

The plan is being prepared within the guidelines outlined in the National Library Strategy 2023 - 2027 and against the backdrop of other policies such as the Clare County Council Development Plan 2023 – 2029 and the Local Economic and Community Plan 2023 -2029.

We are in This Together!

The services of the public library are provided on the basis of equality of access for all. We are now actively seeking consultation with the public on the future development of our libraries. As part of the consultation process, we are inviting you to give us your feedback on your experience of our libraries and services. Whether you are a library user or an observer, your comments can help us gain a better understanding of what has worked well, what we could do differently, any opportunities that we should consider and what we should prioritise in the future.

  • The purpose of this survey is to gather information about how people in Clare use our library services and what areas we should focus on in the next five years. We welcome responses from people who do not use the library, and from individuals who are answering on behalf of persons who cannot answer for themselves. Focus groups will be held with members of the public, library staff, library partners and stakeholders in the community to give us a deeper understanding of the survey responses.

Please remember to scroll across on the multiple choice answers to see all the options.

The survey should take approximately 5 - 10 minutes to complete. We thank you for your time and contribution.
