Clare County Council is proud to participate in the new THRIVE Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme, funded by the government under the ERDF Regional Programmes through the Southern Regional Assembly.

This initiative aims to revitalise one vacant or under-utilised heritage/historic building in Ennis town centre, transforming it for community use.

THRIVE Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme supports local authorities across the country and their citizens to regenerate town centres by transforming publicly-owned vacant, under-utilised or derelict heritage buildings within key town centres through renovation, renewal, and adaptive reuse. It will deliver on policies set out in the National Planning Framework and Southern Regional Spatial Economic Strategy.

In County Clare, THRIVE funding provides an opportunity to return one vacant heritage building back into use in Ennis Town Centre, whilst addressing community needs. The community and stakeholder engagement will be important in giving the people of Ennis a voice in the selection of one heritage building for regeneration and its end-use.

Stakeholder and citizen engagement for this project begins on 23 September as noted above.
